BELDING, MI

Belding, MI Depot; May 1998
The depot in Belding was built by the Pere Marquett RR in 1921. Total cost of the building was $25,000. Passenger service ended in 1949 for Belding. In the 1980's the tracks were sold to a short line railroad. Mid Michigan RR operates over the tracks, hauling auto parts out of Greenville, a few miles to the north.
Currently the building is owned by the city of Belding. It was restored in 1994. The baggage room was turned into the City Council's Meeting Room and the station agent's office is now the dispatch office for the city's dial-a-ride bus service. The building is open to the public.
