How do I manage my e-mail POP accounts?

Go to https://webmail.mc.net/admin, login, click on the add a user link and fill out the appropriate information. For more information click here.

How do I obtain my master login and password?

The master login and password were sent along with the confirmation e-mail when the web hosting service was first setup. If you no longer have this e-mail, you will need to send a faxed letterhead with the request for the username and password. Please include the domain name, the signature of an officer of the company/organization, and a call back number.

What are Stats?

A statistics program that tracks the activity of your web site. A new report is created daily.

What is FTP?

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. An FTP program allows you to upload/download files to/from your web site. To obtain a free FTP program click here.

What type of web server will my site be hosted on?

What should the permissions of the script be set to?

755 or -rwxr-xr-x

When I try to run my CGI script I keep getting an Internal Server Error?

Make sure the path to the PERL interrupter is correct (/usr/bin/perl) and make sure the permissions of the script are set correctly (should be 755 or -rwxr-xr-x). If these are both correct, then try sending the script over as ASCII instead of BINARY or vice versa. Also make sure your script has an extension of either .pl or .cgi

There a many registrars to purchase a domain name from. Each have their own costs, which change frequently. Some registrars to purchase from include: Network SolutionsRegister.com, and Go Daddy. Remember to keep your username and password from the registrar after purchasing the domain. mc.net would be glad to assist in the purchasing of the domain if need be.

Does mc.net register the domain?

Domains are registered through a domain name registrar such as Network Solutions. Registrars tell the world who has registered the domain name and where the domain name is hosted. Registration fees vary per registrar.

What is domain hosting?

Domain hosting allows you to park your domain on mc.net's servers. The servers are then configured to point to a non-mc.net web or mail server. Typically, customers will use this service when they have one web site and own several domain names.

What are the benefits of having my own domain name?

How soon can mc.net set up web hosting for my new domain?

Usually, setup should be completed within 24 hours of signup. mc.net will contact you if there are any issues.

Domain Transfer FAQs

How much will it cost me to transfer my domain to mc.net?

$65 per year. This cost includes the hosting of the domain name. If you choose to host your web site with mc.net the cost of domain hosting is waived and all you are responsible for is the cost of the web hosting.

How long will it take to transfer my domain to mc.net?

Typically, the transfer takes less then 24 hours. However, you must be in possession of the domain's username and password which the registrar assigned to you when you purchased the domain. If you are not in possession of this information you must contact the registrar you purchased the name from. If you are not sure who the domain was registered through please contact mc.net and we would be glad to assist you.
